The name Raritan Bay District
Thomas A. Edison Council
by by John J. Fogarty

During 1982-83, Arrowhead District and Towpath District merged. There was a contest to name the new district and the winning name was Raritan Bay District. I know this, as I won that contest, and I became the "Godfather of Raritan Bay District"!

At the time, I was a Youth member of the Law Enforcement Explorer Post #247, Sayreville Police Dept., an Eagle Scout (Class of 1980), A.S.M of Troop 94 (Morgan) and A.S,M. of Troop 95 (South Amboy from 1982 to 1987. I also worked with Mr. Edward Deren as a Swimming Instructor for Swimming/Lifesaving merit badges at Parlin YMCA from 1980-1987. I was also a Religious Embelems Counselor/Instructor/Member of Concil Catolic Commitee on Scouting.

I fondly remember the 1975 - 1982/1983 "Roundabout Camporees, and both the Ordeal(June1979), the Brotherhood Member (June 198080) in Narraticong Lodge #9 at KMSR in Branchville, NJ.
